Need Ideas for Easy Finger Foods
« on: December 01, 2005, 20:18:07 pm »
I need some ideas for a 10.5mos old with only four teeth.  So far, she has had breads and cheeses, small pieces of fruit and vegetables, and some meat.  Dinner isn't too hard as we just give her whatever is appropriate form our meal, but at breakfast and lunch, I always forget to prep something ahead of time, and once we finish her puree, she is not real patient.

I need ideas for things that I could have ready in the fridge.

Try the frozen little mini pancakes.... they only take 8 sec in the microwave.  My son loves them!  I break them into little pieces and let him feed himself or hold onto it and let him bite off small pieces!

my daughter has no teeth at 9 mths..she takes after me who didn't get teeth til 14 mths.

she eats small bits of grapes, oatmeal, heated and frozen waffles, crackers, mashed potatoes, rice, cream of wheat, bread/toast, bits of ground beef or turkey, turkey (from thanksgiving dinner, not now but that day), sweet potatoes, cheese, apple thinly sliced and small bits, bananna, green beans cooked good, peas, carrots cooked good.

all is really super easy too.

My dd is 9.5 months and only 2 teeth. She'll eat just about anything. For lunch, i make myself a sandwich (ham or turkey with swiss on whole wheat) I cut off a section and tear it into pieces and she eats that along with a babyfood veggie (I don't count on her feeding herself for nutrional value as it all ends up in her lap). Breakfast, she loves eggs, toast or biscuit, applesauce or cut up banana, hashbrowns, thick oatmeal shredded cheese. For the patience part of it, I bought Natalie one of those little handheld mesh strainers and I put something in there to keep her occupied until her meal is prepared (or I give her a cup of water -- always one handy in the fridge). Hope that helps!
