Why is it that......
« on: December 02, 2005, 13:07:39 pm »
my girl wakes during EVERY daytime nap after 30-40 mins when she comes into her light sleep, but sleeps through the night.  I've just been trying to get her back off and have shushed so much and so hard i gave myself the headspins.  she is doing my head in.  she is 10 weeks old, and i KNOW she is knackered.

Believe it or not but day sleep and night time sleep are a different function of the brain which is why she can sleep so well at night, but not so well during the day.  Babies first work on "organizing" their night sleep and then they work on their daytime sleep.  40 minute naps are very much developmental, especially at this young age.  Believe or a not she will get through this and so will you    It took my dd 7 weeks to finally stop doing the 40 minute naps and learn how to get past the 1st sleep cycle on her own.

Keep up the good work and good luck!
