Do you follow every single one of the rules?
« on: December 02, 2005, 14:15:56 pm »
Maybe this is my problem....but after a 25 min nap it took me 45 min to get my son to sleep again.  I am not about to wake him up at the 'usual wake up time'  I want him to get some much needed rest!  He isn't going to be sleeping through a feeding.  If that were the case I would get him up.  But wake him up from a nap that I so desperately worked for seems counterintuitive to me.

Is this where I am going wrong?

Thanks for your thoughts.

BTW I printed off her interview and am reading it over and over again.

Do I WHAT?!?!?!? HAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAH!

OK, composure regained..... I know that I don't have the strength of character, patience, or gift that Tracy had, so I follow the rules that I can when I can, but most of the time, especially with another kid around, I can't - I can only know what I MIGHT be SUPPOSED to be doing.

Between you and me (and everyone else reading this! ;)), I almost NEVER wake a sleeping baby. Exceptions: if baby is sleeping significantly later than feed time, baby is more than 45 min past due to waken and will mess up the rest of the sleep schedule the rest of the day, or we HAVE to go somewhere (appointment, pick up Josie from school). Almost ANY time I've woken the baby, I've paid for it later. :(

Meg, like Deb I try to follow the general principles/guidelines of EASY and BW, but oftentimes that all flies out the window!!
I wouldn't worry too much about following everything to a "T" as your LO is still so young and you will need to "tweak" his routine every now and then even as he gets older.
When Molly is having a "bad" day, I too let her rest past feeding time or even   rock her to sleep once in awhile  !

this is where your mommy instinct must rule.     fwiw, i woke my kids up when it was time to eat again, but usually not before.

you know your lo best.  if he will benefit more from sleeping, let him sleep.
