my 5 and a half month old doesn't finish bottles
« on: December 03, 2005, 01:29:22 am »
Hi my  5 and a half month old baby no longer wants to drink her full bottle. We have been on a 4 hour schedule but lately she doesnt want much of her bottle. She is on solids though i always give her a bottle and then half hour or so later solids.

Her schedule is like this most of the time thou its changing a little now.

7am/ 7.30a Bottle nearly has all.

8.30 ish solids rice cereal
9am sleep
11/11.30a bottle

12 ish solids veges or fruit
1 pm sleep
3.30 ish bottle

5.30ish solids

bath

7pm bottle and bed

She sometimes only drinks half her bottle. Should i try and let her go and be longer between feeds? When do they drop feeds?

A lot of times kiddos will go through little spurts where they just don't take as much as they use to.  Both of my kiddos did it too.  How long as it been going on?  If it isn't affecting her night sleep and is still gaining weight, I would go with the flow - though hard at times I know, I always got frustrated thinking they weren't taking enough.  But it eventually increased again.  :D

Wow!! I think your daughter and my son must be talking to each other!  My son's on the same exact schedule and has the same issue with his bottles!!
His doctor said that once solids are established, babies may start losing interest in milk.  One thing I've done is halfway through the feeding, we take a little break and then I heat up the bottle a little more so it's nice a warm.  He's been guzzling it more often when it's warm.
If you find out anything more, let me know!!
Good luck!
