2nd 30 min nap in 3hours
« on: December 03, 2005, 17:15:10 pm »
My daughter will be 3 months old on December 6th.  She falls asleep no problem with the shush/pat, about 2 min.  We very rarely get her through the 45 minute point though.  When she wakes, we have a 15 min play time as suggested and try again.  The second time she is much more upset.  My husband held her for 45 min with her crying and finally resorted to a bit of bouncing, to release the calming hormone.  She fell asleep.  We have been doing the walk about the house as suggested to release this hormone earlier but the 45min jolt seems to really upset her.  Any ideas?

hi there.  that 45 minute jolt can be very hard for the lo's to get past.  Taylor was about 15 weeks when she finally started to be able to do it on her own, so you may be almost there! :)

A couple of Q's:
Is she swaddled?  this may help her not jolt as hard
do you use white noise?
do you use a paci or is she learning to suck fingers/hands?
what is her routine, including her A times.
What type of a baby does she seem to be?
are you going in at the 30 minute mark and trying to help her get through the jolt?

The short naps are very trying I know.  Please answer the q's and we'll see if we can get more insight and help her make it through the transition.
