Do you resettle at all?
« on: December 04, 2005, 17:42:28 pm »
I just wrote another post and then realized I have another question.

Carmela is not going to sleep right away at nap time (and hardly at bedtime but not as long is she up)...she doesn't cry but plays and talks.  Sometimes I wonder if I go in there and resettle her will that work or should I just let her play it out???

I would say let her resettle herself unless she starts to cry. I let my ds talk away and sing (actually, he's doing that right now!). However, if he is starting to cry his 'I need you now. I'm not going to resettle myself' cry, then I intervene. I usually just go in, pop the pacifier back in, lay him down, cover him up and walk out.

HTH!

My son is 2.5 and does this at bedtime.  He will talk and play with his motorbike and rider anywhere from 5 mins to an hour.  He never gets out of bed and to be honest, if he's happy then we leave him be.
When he was napping, he would sometimes spend the whole of naptime playing, but we figured it was quiet-time and left him to it.

Unless he is crying or upset I leave him be and let him fall asleep when he does on his own.
