NAPS???? Never heard of 'em...
« on: December 06, 2005, 13:36:25 pm »
DD just won't take naps... she sleeps two once or twice during the day for a duration ranging from 1.5 -3 hours and that is it. and then at night is that ok???? she's 8 weeks day after tomorrow.

another thing is that she used to sleep 6 hours at night starting from 5.5 weeks. this went on for 10 days. then all of a sudden, she went back again to 3.5-4 hours. nothing in her routine changed at all... does anybody have any suggestions????

All babies are different.  Some sleep more than others, others happily sleep less.  If your baby is happy during the awake hours, then she's fine.  If she's grumpy or just seems tired to you, then she needs to sleep.  I would venture to guess, however, that she may not have a routine in place where she knows that she is to nap.  If you do have a routine, could you list it here?  It would give us a better idea of how to help.

As for waking up every 3.5-4 hours, it's definitely possible.  Babies have growth spurts all the time and they affect nighttime sleep as well as naps.  For her age, this is normal.
