Hi

My daughter was exclusively bottle fed and I was never told I need to add any vitamins to her diet. That said, we're in the UK and maybe the formula you get there is different and doesn't include these things.

I'd take a look at the formula box (assuming it has the ingredients list in English) and see if you can see Vit A&D on there). If it is on there then I wouldn't think you'd have to supplement - but I'm not a doctor so I couldn't say for sure.

Hi

In that case I wouldn't have thought that your LO would need extra vits. I don't think the climate in China is any worse than the UK so I don't think that can be the issue. Can you ask your doctor why he's recommending the extra vits?

Mine has the baby vite drops.  She started them in the nicu and her doc has us continuing them.  She's a 'fluxer, so that might be part of it in her case.  Maybe the doc is worried you lo won't drink enough?

My cousin lives in Switzerland now and has been told to give her baby extra vitamin d via a bottle of very yucky drops, which poor little chloe hates, which I thought was strange. Interestingly on the packet of baby rice I use it says it contains vitamin d to help baby release energy more easily... I don't know if thats anything to do with it.

My DDs formula has 300 IU of Vit A and 60 IU of Vit D.  We live in cloudy Seattle and I've read article after article about Vit D deficiency here due to our cloudy/rainy climate, but the pediatrian never mentioned supplementation for DD.

We have an appointment in a couple of weeks.  I can ask the doc if you'd like.

We were told to give Vit.D supplements due to our climate but that was only while breast feeding and not formula feeding...
