vitamins and milk allergy

Our MD told us to start Poly-Vi-Sol vitamins for my formula/solid food eating 11 month old who is allergic to milk.  I read that it has natural and caramel flavoring as ingredients.  Is this going to be a problem??

I think you have to use your best judgement in this case. There are natural flavorings in things like soda as well but those obviously don't contain Milk or Soy Proteins. Most babies tend to grow out of their MSPI by 1 to 2 years of age so your older baby may be more tolerant of proteins by now.

Why did your ped. suggest the vitamins?

My child has had pretty bad eczema......just got my MD to agree it is a milk allergy last week when he saw the whelps all over after I fed him some chicken fingers with whey.  He had been on Nutramagin for a couple months which helped clear his face eczema so I felt there was a link....but I didn't realize the chicken fingers had milk and it was BAD,  Anyway, he has problems with many fruits so the MD wants to be sure he is getting adequate vitamins even if he isn't able to get some fruits in a day.  He loves eating everything just seems to react easily.

We do a vitamin similar to polyvisol without any reactions.
