How do we get rid of 3am feeding???
« on: December 09, 2005, 21:23:58 pm »
Okay our 3 month old son is doing great on the EASY method...finally he seems happy, but we are now trying to get rid of that 3am feeding and nothing so far has worked. Here is his routine:

Wakes at 7am, eats 6 oz.
Activity until 9am-then nap
Wakes at 11am, eats 6 oz.
Activity until 1pm-then nap
Wakes at 3pm, eats 6 oz.
Activity until "catnap from 5-6pm"
ats at 7pm, then bath then in bed by 7:30pm
I do dream feed at 10:30 pm

now here is the problem...he still wakes between 2-3:30 in the morning to eat. I tried pat shush, but that didnt work...we even resorted to the cry it out method (which worked for our first son), but he can cry up to an hour which cant be good. SHOULD he be sleeping from 10:30pm until 7am? He usually will eat 5-6 oz for 3am feeding, but how long does a growth spurt last if thats what it is?
One night he lasted until 5am which was great...so I did feed him since Im sure he was starving, but that threw him ALL OFF SCHEDULE the next day. (not fun).
Is he still too young to go without 3am feeding?
This is so new tous since our first son slept through the night at 2.5 months old....please help!

Maybe one of the sleep moderators can give you some advice on pat/shh method so you don't have to worry about CIO.

even better, read what Tracy herself had to say

here's the basic instructions for pat/shhh.  it does say for under 3 months old, but i found it to be effective until luke was closer to 6 months.  and it still kinda works at 10 months!

and info on pu/pd, if needed:
