still waking after weaning from paci
« on: December 10, 2005, 22:13:57 pm »
I have a 5 mo and we are on day 24 with no paci and I am about to go out of my mind. She can not get over the 45 min nap thing and she is still waking at night 3-4 times!!!! I am so tired!!!! I have been trying to figure out the nap thing since her 3 mo growth spurt and the same with the night wakings. She is no longer responding to the pat/shh and gets really mad when I do pu/pd. I am at a loss because I either need the night sleep or the naps during the day and I can't seem to get either!!! Does anyone have any suggestions.?!!!

Thanks
Kate

How are you actually getting her to sleep... do you keep "helping" her until she is asleep or just calm??
If you are helping her until she is asleep, you have just swapped props & you are the prop rather than the paci.
If that isn't the situation then I'm at a bit of a loss as to reasons why.

I think that might be it. Now what? She really hates pu/pd, so do I just start leaving after she gets calm and cross my fingers? I can't believe I did this, if it's not one thing it's another, and I actually had to be told thats what is happening, see what no sleep does. Thank you!!

Kate, I would leave a bit earlier than you do, you are probably at the stage when you can tell when she is getting ready to drop off, leave then & kind of work backwards so she is less & less asleep... maybe do 2-3 days at each step, so it is a gradual thing... does that make sense
