Night wakings and feeding
« on: December 11, 2005, 09:32:04 am »
Hi.
Not sure if I'm in the right board for this...
Sam has gone from being a good sleeper (waking once a night) to being a real PITA.
Last night he went to bed at 7.30, woke at 10.30 with a poopy bum and went back off ok.
He then woke at 12.20 looking for food, I tried patting him - just made things worse.  I picked him up and he went mad trying to eat my shoulder! So I fed him - he took 7oz.
He woke again at 3.45, I didn't think he could be hungry again so soon.  He wouldn't settle, I tried giving him a dummy but he kept spitting it out.  He ended up with another 3oz.
He then woke at 6.45 - HUNGRY AGAIN.  What's with this child?
He feeds every 3 hours, and I mean every 3 hours during the day and takes between 5 and 7oz each time.  We have been trying solids for the last couple of weeks but he is just not interested, he won't take much more than a taste.
Am I doing something wrong?

Wendy, If I remember correctly due date was mid Sept??? Adjusted that would probably make this his 3month growth spurt... think that might be the cause???

Kate, you genius!  They are 12 weeks corrected, so could be.  Do I feed him and hope that it won't become a habit?

Wendy, being a bf mum, not quite sure on the bottles - which I'm guessing is where you are at as I know you bf Harry.
But I would offer more in the day more in each feed & if you can closer together... then feed as needed at night, I think that is what Tracy recommends in her book.
