We're right there with you!  Over 3 solid months of sleep training and she still does 45 minute naps.   I've really just given in-she'll get over it, my son did.  Until then, I'll just look to this website for comfort and to know that I'm not alone!

Here is some hope:  both my sons overcame the 45's around 6 or 7 months.  For son #1 I tried everything to extend them.  Nothing worked.  Once we got to two naps a day, he started taking better naps.  He was finally a good napper around 1 yo. when he went to one long nap in the afternoon.

Son #1 (currently 8 mo.) got over the 45's around 7 mo. and now sleeps about and hour and 15 in the a.m. and close to two hours in the p.m.  I did nothing but wait it out with him.  Go figure!

Hang in there!

:)

I hated the 45 min nap until my lo started only napping 35 mins.  Now, I hate 35 min naps!!!!  Uuugghhh, after all of my efforts trying to sleep train her, she is regressing!  My first dd was such a great napper.  I can't believe this one is so opposite.  The only saving grace is that she is a pretty good night sleeper.

I don't have the luxury of spending all day at home b/c I have to pick dd #1 up from preschool.  I'm making myself crazy with this and am starting to think I should just accept it and hope she outgrows it soon.

FRUSTRATED.........

Same here - only part-time sleep training, and ds started waking after very short naps (sometimes as long as 45 minutes) and then he'll only sleep again pacifying ("nursing") the whole nap. I think it's cuz of his cold, so I shouldn't be so frustrated.
Both my kids are poor nappers, but they sleep so well at night, I guess for some it's a trade off. When I get all annoyed about his naps, sometimes I remember to ask myself, which would i prefer ; daytime, or night time sleeping?

Count me in too!  45 minutes seems to be a good nap these days - although we've only just begun having these short naps.  Am fortunate that DD will usually nod off on her own so I don't have to stay near for the 5, 10, 15 and 20 minute jolts and then jostle at 40 minutes to see if it may or may not extend the nap.  I'm just going to try to ride it out and hope that she works it out on her own, and it not, I have a brand-new bottle of vodka in the freezer.  That might help me not care that I don't get a darn thing done during the day!

You all made my day!!!  I am transitioning my DS to a 4-hr. schedule this week hoping the 45 min. naps will get better.  He also has a cold, so it's really ugly this week.

I hope mine grows out of it.  she takes 35 minute naps and is 3 months old today.  she only eats for 6 minutes so extending her awake time is a little hard...any suggestions???
we are working on a solid 3 hour schedule but growth spurt hit this week and threw us way off..

It's so good to here he will grow out of it I honestly can't remember when the last time he napped properly. I think It's been almost two months :? .  Well bring on six, months so I can finally get my life back. For me hopefully it will be a double blessing as DS has never slept the whole night he still wakes twice for a feed, no matter what I try nothing works, I here he should start sleeping through around that age.

I wonder if they do a counter to put at the end for that :   lol.
