My little Jakie is eight months today. I am thinking about turning the monitor off..or when I am going to-- when did all of you turn it off-- if you have?

Thanks for the input!

Ds is almost 2, and we still use it religiously.

He CAN get out of his own bed (he's in a real twin size bed) and stand at the door and yell if he needs us, but I am VERY thankful that we still use it - just 2 nights ago, I heard a cry through the monitor that wasn't "normal".
I go rushing in, to find that his body is on the floor, and his leg is trapped in his bed rail!!

Bedrail is now removed - if he falls, he falls onto the floor covered in pillows.

Glad we still use the monitor, or else I wouldn't have heard his cries!!

Hi Elizabeth

We stopped having the monitor in our room overnight when Grace was about 10 months old. We don't have a massive house and Grace's room is near enough that we can here her if she's crying loudly enough to need us (but we don't hear if she's just murmuring in her sleep and turning over and stuff). I found I slept much better once we stopped having the monitor on because I would wake at every little sound from it when we used it.

We still have the monitor on downstairs for when she's napping in the day time and when we put her to bed at night.

HTH

love
Marie

We've never used one with Tyler at night, since his room is right next to ours and we can hear him easily, but we still use it anytime we're somewhere else in the house. I think it depends on how big your house or apartment is, and whether or not you'd be able to hear DS without the monitor.

They're both right:)

I should have mentioned that we use fans called "The Wind Machine" in our bedrooms, and there is just no way we would ever hear him if he cried out in the night without a monitor.

I think it depends on the baby
I have 3 kids and with # 1, we were done with the monitor at about 12-13 months
#2 at about 8-9 months
and #3  wow!!!  I don't see it anywhere in the near future. She will be one in January and I still have to have it, to know what is going on in there :!:
Anyhow It is helpful to keep it around for a while because you can hear when the playing stops and the sleep begins.
turn it down really low..that helps us out.

we still have one in dd's room, and she's 2.5!  actually, we went out & bought a 2nd one so we could hear luke too.      played with them a bit so their signals didn't cross.

but like has been mentioned earlier, the way our house is laid out, we wouldn't be able to hear them otherwise.
