Canned Fruits?

I wanted to make up some homemade pears or fruit but as it i smore expensive in the winter I am not so sure. My mom said she used to use the canned ones with no syrup. Does anyone do this? I don' t know if it would have less nutrients than the fresh ones.

sounds a great idea. I will look for organic and check ingredants. I have probs skinning and deseeding tomatoes, any tips?

I have never done it for baby but when I use them to cook I put in boiling water for 4-5 minute until the skin cracks. Then after cool you can pull the skin right off and cut in half and squeeze all the seeds out. Maybe that will work.

my mom also said this is what she did for us too.  I've tried it.  I just bought the unsweetened ones and then purreed or cut into small cubes.  Tastes the same as store bought baby food.  And the ingredients are just as good.  ie pears and pear juice or pineapple juice.  I have also bought canned peaches.  Jackson likes both this way.

I too buy canned fruits...fresh ones just don't get eaten fast enough around here since dh doesn't eat fruit much.  I always get the ones in real fruit juice so they're not getting the heavy syrup.  HTH
