Going abroad - jars or transport food?
« on: December 14, 2005, 21:30:25 pm »
Hi!

I'm off with my lo abroad for Xmas. He's just been weaned and is still on cubes of homemade fruit and veg purees. I'd prefer not to give him jars in case they upset him (he's got a bit of a delicate constitution!). I could cook when I'm there I guess but was wondering if anyone had any bright ideas? Thought of transporting frozen cubes of food in a thermos? Not sure if it would work, so wondering if anyone had done that? It needs to stay frozen for about 5 hours. Or just use jars?

Thanks!

where are you going to be staying (location) and what kind of accomodation will you be in (self catering with full kitchen or a hotel room or friends house...)  What foods is your lo currently eating? also how long will you be away for?

Hi!

Thanks for the reply! We're staying for a week in self-catering accomodation in Spain which should be pretty well-equipped. My lo is currently just having a cube of one veg, fruit or baby rice at lunch and dinner. Maybe I should just cook a small amount when I'm there rather than think about transporting it?

i would think that would be easier - you could bring the rice cereal with you and any equipment you think they might not have - like little storage containers for the cooked food and baby spoons... and then buy 1 or 2 veg that lo has had and are easy to cook... and maybe some bananas since no cook, just mash...

with only eating one cube/meal i would not stress too much about quantity or variety while you are away - offer what you can and carry on when you return home

Have fun!
