Should I be keeping her awake more?
« on: December 15, 2005, 19:57:38 pm »
Ella will be 10 weeks on Monday and I am wondering if I should be keeping her for awake time more. Currently between her 3 naps and a catnap a day she is averaging 6.5 hours of sleep then at night typically she is sleeping from 7:00 until about 6:30am-7:00am. This is about 18.5 hours. Is she sleeping too much as I see that in some books it says babies this age are averaging around 15. She seems happy and can put herself to sleep in the crib. I find she is yawning after about 45mins-1 hour of activity. Is this normal? Thanks for all the replies :)

Hi

This sounds completely normal to me - all babies are different and need slightly different amounts of sleep.  45 minutes to 1 hour of activity time seems right for your LO, mine is now 14 weeks old and can still only handle 1 hour or 1.5 hours maximum.

Sounds like you're doing a great job!
