Day time naps easy - bedtime harder, why?
« on: December 16, 2005, 01:56:46 am »
Does anyone have a theory as to why a lot of babies will go down for their naps pretty well during the day but going to bed at night is a real struggle?

I thought it might be pent up excitement from the day because to me it seems like my dd's problem is that she can't wind down and relax at night.

Is it just the spirited or grumpy ones that do it?

Any ideas?

I have the same problem! My daughter is 9 weeks old. She naps in the bassinet fairly easy for 1-1.5 hours morning and afternon. For bedtime, It takes forever to get her to go to sleep! I shush/pat forever! It's harder too because I have a 4 year old who needs her story and her own routine. SOmetimes I end up just holding the baby until my other daughter goes to sleep. I have no idea why she won't go to sleep at night. This is funny, last night I had my company Christmas party. I have not been out with adults in a long time. My mom kept the lo overnight. I called this morning to check on her. SHe slept through the night! From 9:30pm to 6:00am! I couldn't believe it! I just hope that it wasn't a fluke because I have to go back to work in two weeks. Just thought I would share that funny story since I've been up with her 1-3 times a night for the past 9 weeks! There is a light at the end of the tunnel ladies! :D
