How Much Formula For Cereal?
« on: December 17, 2005, 14:15:33 pm »
Hi there. DD (18 weeks, 2 days) has had rice cereal in bottles since 3 months due to reflux. GI doc and ped would now like us to start removing cereal from bottles and give by spoon. If all goes well, in a few more weeks we can start adding other foods slowly.

Ped said to mix 1tbsp rice cereal with 4-5 tbsp formula. But that seems WAY too thin and soupy.

How much formula do you all mix with? I'm using Beechnut rice cereal, since it's soy free. DD is on Neocate.

At first I started making it very runny but I have to admit that lasted for
about 2 days; way to messy for me and for the baby. if your little one can handle it make it more stotgy; cement consistancy is what I found worked best for us. I never measured the formula; just did it by eye.

What I would do is 1 full TBS of cereal to 1 oz formula.  Now we do 1/2oz formula.
