Has anyone else experienced this??  my dd is almost 11 months, and for the last few weeks she has been jamming her fingers down her throat and gagging herself.  She doesn't vomit (thank goodness!)  I can't figure out why she is doing it.  She never does it at mealtime, it just seems to be random times throughout the day.  Today she started laughing at me reacting to her doing it, so i thought i'd be better to just try to distract her with a toy instead, so far that isn't working very well and i just have to grab her hand and pull it away from her face. 

Any thoughts/advice?  Has this happened to anyone else???? :roll:

:lol:   Zoë's been doing this the last couple of weeks too (with fingers and spoon).....just experimenting....I think  :D  :wink:

Just wanted to ditto Noelle.  It is probably just experimentation, and she'll probably stop after a short while.

Quick question, though.  Is she/was she a refluxer?

my lo is a refluxer and only six months but she has been doing this for about the last month...never understood why she does it over and over - almost as if she enjoys the sensation or something?!

My ds is 4 months and has done this for the last couple of weeks.  Don't know why, I just keep pulling his hands out of his mouth!

thanks for all the responses!  It's nice to know i'm not the only one!!!  And no, she never had reflux, thankfully.  i thought maybe she was doing it to get attention, even though she gets Tons of attention!!  Now i think it may be what you guys were suggesting, just experimenting.  Bizarre.  thanks again!

Our dd does this when she's teething... though she is also a refluxer... just a thought!

Zoe laughs after she does it too...thinks it's hysterical.  I think she likes how it feels  :shock:  as I usually don't say or do anything that would prompt her to keep doing it  :lol:

Hope went through a phase of doing that but it passed. I think she was just experimenting
