Overcoming nightwakings, now nap problems
« on: December 19, 2005, 23:51:21 pm »
Well, my 7 month old dd is begining to overcome the nightwakings, and naptime is becoming difficult!

I have tried to extend awake time (3 hours now), and I know we are dealing with milestones (teething - one last weekend); crawling; kneeing AND standing in crib!!!

Also, I may have AP...I was feeding her before naps to get extra calories in for the night (the only other time she would eat!) I do wake her if she dozes before I put her down, but is this the problem???

Morning nap is a bit better, and once she falls asleep she sleeps for 1-2 hours.

Any suggestiong on how to make it easier???

Hi, sorry you are having such trouble.  It could very well be developmental OR ?  Lets see if we can help.

First can you tell me:
-how long has she been doing the short naps?
-how long have you been giving the feed before nap?

Hi Meg's mom! It's not so much that the naps are short, it's getting her down for them has been an issue. So today I "toughened up" and have done pu/pd and she's now on her second nap :) The first was an hour, but my dh was VERY noisy and I think woke her!! Luckily I had only been (daytime) feeding her before naps for about a week, so maybe it will be easier to break her of that habit than if it was linger. I will give you an update and let you know if we need more advice!
