Acid Reflux problems
« on: December 23, 2005, 19:57:20 pm »
My 7 wk old has acid reflux.  He's starting on xantac today.  Any suggestions to help his feeding problem other than tilting his matress and keeping him upright after a feed?  He'll eat for about 5 minutes and then cry in pain and won't feed again until he's really sleepy.  He does this on breast and bottle.  Anyone have any suggestions??

Hi there!

Check out the post "Reflux 101" on the Colic, Reflux and Crying board!!  That should give you plenty of tips to help.

Also, feel free to post any questions you have about reflux on that board, and we're all happy to try to help!

Zantac takes generally about a week for good results, so just don't give up too quickly!  My ds was on it from about 6 weeks, and we had pretty good success with it!  However, if after a couple of weeks you don't see marked improvement, they make many other drugs to help your lo!

Good luck!
