just diagnosed with reflux, have questions
« on: December 28, 2005, 18:35:05 pm »
DD is only 5 weeks old.  recently she began fussing during feeds, she'd stop and cry, HARD, for a minut or two and i could not figure out why.  I thot it waas the gerber bottles which seemed to flow milk really fast so i switched to Avent and thot it was a little better but still had fussy feeds.

She also spits up a lot of milk.  So off to the doc (actually the clinic, as our doc is on vacation) and he listened to my story and said  sounds like reflux here is a scrip for zantac.

I am a lttle skeptical about this diagnosis and was wondering if anyone out there has had a similar experience or could enlighten me a little about reflux, and zantac.

She also grunts and groans a LOT!

Is that related? Or is this a symptom of a GRUMPY baby??

Any insights are welcome!
TIA
Sheri

HI Sheri, sorry only have a second will check back. SOrry to hear about this! Did you read the info announcement at the top of the thread? It lists the symptoms for reflux, etc. may be of some help... also you should see an improvement within a few days on the Zantac hopefully if it is reflux, though zantac doesn't work for all babies... it's an acid neutralizer so it is supposed to help with the pain. as I said I'll check back when I have more time today but you'll find lots of wonderful mums here dealing with reflux. lot's of support!!! Take care,

Sharon

It does sound like reflux.

Why don't you check out the Colic/Reflux and Crying board - there is a ton of information on reflux there!

Great post to read is Reflux 101 at the top of the board!

My ds was on Zantac and it worked pretty well for him.

The grunting and groaning happened alot at my house too.

If you still have questions about the reflux, please feel free to post on that board, and myself or one of the many mom's of refluxers will be happy to try to help you out!
