hi girls, our evening was nice, just the two of us, we pulled out the bed in our sofa and snuggled. We watched our fireworks that were on tv here, I love them as they go off in such a small place. We then watched the new york celebrations,  clark was awesome, he speech is not what it was, but it was so nice to see him after the stroke he had.
Well as far as waxing hoo hoo's I make a whole lot of sense...I am too shy, don't quite have the courage to have a total stranger look and fiddle around with my bits. Makes sense after having kids doesn't it!!!!!
Well I have a nice long weekend yet again, I had a four day weekend for xams and now I have a three day one for new years.
I will chat to you later girls,

okay, busy all day yesterday and off to New Year's dinner at ILs *sigh*  I just want to relax.

Friday night was okay.  I have a habitual waking at 12:20 to deal with.  He woke at that time Tues, Fri. and last night (can't remember wed. thur)
Friday he was up for an hour, then back to sleep til 4:30.  I fed as it had been 10.5 hours and he slept til 6:30 (YAY)  I only expected 5:30 since he went down at 6:30 pm.
Last night he fell asleep in car on way home from friends house.  wasn't sure whether to keep him up for the 30 min. ride or not.  Anyway, fed him when I got home and he settled himself back to sleep.  Heard him up and settle several times before going to bed so that was great.  Up from 12:20-2:00!  though.  Then up at 2:45 and I fed and he slept til 6...back down very briefly, up by 6:40.

soooooo, nights are slowly getting better (by my standards anyway)

Tooth came in yesterday-FINALLY!

k girlies, chat was sooooooooooo much fun friday.  And I really needed the laugh.  I had a thought yesterday.   For those that do it...you are BWers getting BWs....kwim??? (baby whisperers getting brazilian waxes)

hee hee.

that's all for now.  i'll go back and get caught up later tonight when we're home.

Happy New Year everyone

Noami I think you still make sense... waxing is different than childbirth.  During delivery they aren't just focused on your 'bits' :)  They're looking beyond them to the baby coming out.  Waxing they are focused solely on your parts!

hi girls!

this hoo hoo talk cracks me up!  we totally talk like we've been girlfriends forever!  8) I think for me being an esthetician would be one of the worst jobs...fiddling with stinky girl bits, waxing men's backs, shaving calluses, etc. off peoples stinky feet...  :P

I think our travelling has done wonders for Jack.....he's going to bed at the same time (between 730-8pm) and is now waking at 8:15am!!    He use to wake anywhere between 645-7:15am and then ofcourse still need a catnap to make it to bedtime.  But now with the later wakeup his naps are getting pushed back later and so now no catnap (for two days anyway  )....i've probably just jinxed myself! :?  :)

Goodmorning. All this talk about hoo hoo's which I missed before I've decided to add my 2 cents worth. I have had it done in the past but not for a couple of years now. DH loved it - of course! It's our 2nd wedding anniversary in Feb so maybe I will surprise him and get it done again. That should be counted as 2 presents, not only the cost to get it done but the pain and discomfort I'm put thru to get it! I just lie there and think to myself they do this all the time and it's no different than a dentist doing my teeth. Mind you, I don't like that much either!

Micky, good to hear Jack's sleeping so late in the mornings. How nice for you!

Traci, I'm just curious, when you say Cole is awake for an hour or so in the night what are you doing with him? Is this lights on time, or are you just trying to get him to go to sleep? I couldn't imagine being awake for that long in the night now, so hats of to you lady for staying awake during the day.

Maybe now with the tooth something might improve??? Crossing fingers for you Traci. Is that Cole's first tooth?

Naomi, your evening sounds very relaxing.

Better go, someone needs me.

Hayley, sounds like you've got a good list of possibles there, fwiw, Danielle has her meals around 8.30am, 12pm and 5-5.30, so maybe try pushing dinner out half and hour and see how he goes.  I find I always offer some sort of finger food along with the meal I'm spooning in for her unless it's all a finger food type meal.  I've started seasoning food with spices/ginger and she'll eat it up.  I also make us a family meal using those continental packets or stir in sauces and they're full of flavour, she definitely eats those up faster than straight meat and veg.

Judy, hoping the girls don't get your sore throat!  Danielle's got a yucky cough at the moment too and I had to resettle her 2 times last night (which fortunately only took a couple of minutes) and fed once around 5am then she was up at 6am for the day and woke Nathan up.  One day, one day...

Micky, funny how a big change in routine can be a good thing huh?  Maybe I should try that... :P

Happy New Year for everyone else!  DH is off windsurfing today so I'm at home with these two.

OMG I forgot to tell you girls, now that is embarrasing considering it is a mile stone we are talking about.
Riley is officialy crawling, she kinda scoots on all fours at the speed of a turtle, but she gets there. She has just discovered the safety gate to the kitchen, and the fact that she can yank on it.
Righty ho that is my bragging done for the day!!!!!!
I am still debating the whole waxing my hoo hoo thingy, I would like to do it, dh would love it...of course, but I am a little too self concious to go thru with it I think.

Nikki, thanks for your thoughts. I didn't realise Daniel could have those mix thru sauces type of food already. I thought there might be too much 'naughty' stuff like salt, etc in there. But it would be easier if he could eat them I'm sure. What sort of finger food meals does Danielle have? My DH is into windsurfing as well, although only learnt about 4 years ago. And as we don't live anywhere too close to water he doesn't get out a lot. He has managed to get Daniel and the windsurfing gear in the car when we go to Wellington though. Amazing what you can fit in/on a car when you want to!

Judy, hope you start feeling better soon and those germs haven't been passed on.

You're probably right about the salt and stuff, and I only offer it once or twice a week and add a heap of other veges to it once I've taken out a small amount, so it's pretty diluted I would think.  A lot of people offer marmite at this age and that's pretty salty.  As far as finger food meals - I do a pasta sauce meal (chicken tonight brand) with spiral pasta and chicken, grated courgette; roast chicken and veges with brocolli; cheese on toast with brocolli on the side; I tried baked beans yesterday (I did have to squash the beans with my fingers first though).

Well DH decided to not go windsurfing because of the gales today - he might have ended up somewhere else!

Heya gals!!

Salt comment - I don't think salt needs to be worried about as much in children as in adults.  I wouldn't add salt to my children's food once on their plate.. but salt does do some good for the body - we adults have just over done it -like most things :)

Judy, hope you are feeling better soon! The BF should help protect Kaia and Hannah as you are passing on antibodies against the very infection you have..very clever!!! BTW, what is in the tissue salt remedy for constipation, I need to get Sam some of that! He was awake for 2 hours last night, grunting and carrying on!  Finally crashed out on the floor with me holding him!

YAY for Riley!!! Well done!

This talk of focusing on parts is making me think twice about my resolution but I know from experience that they don't really focus on the part, just with getting the job done. Does that make sense? Kind of like Hayley's dentist analogy.

Nikki, when Danielle wakes at 5 and you feed her, do you only offer one side? What do you then do when she wakes up properly? Do you offer her both sides again? I had to do that this morning as Sam had a bad night and he obviously needed more sleep but when he woke up properly, I offered him the other side and half a bottle! I don't do this often so not sure what to do.

Traci, hats off to you. I was up for 2 hours last night and am exhausted so I don't know how you do it regularly. Hugs and hope your nights get better real soon.

You too, Ankie!

Must go, have family visiting at the moment...you know you are addicted when..

Hello, and HAPPY NEW YEAR to all of you!

I haven't time to read what I have missed, and I apologize. It is a little rude of me to come and go as I please expecting everyone to read my rants....

This year I am just hoping for my babes to stay healthy... it is truly a gift we all have to have these beautiful little miracles in our lives- may you all be blessed with MORE (if you want them of course, and if you are done, well cheers to Birth Control!!!)

The Thomas house was full of ups and downs this season- the lord kindly blessed us with the flu (or was it that snotty chubby kid at strollercize.. hmmmm?? ) -Me, Mais and Mak... not Dad of course, we needed someone to run the house!
Then we had to take an unexpected trip back to my hometown (a usual 6 hour drive now 8 with the babes) as my Grandfather has been placed in a paliative care unit at the hospital.. dying of heartbreak

Seeing the girls Christmas morning (even though they had no clue and at that point still b!tchy from the flu) was more than enough for me.... I can't wait until they "get it"...

For those with older ones too, how exciting is Christmas for you now??
I honestly didn't care about me this year, it was soooo about the babes and they don't even care- but I tell yah when they do, Sean has his Santa suit already purchased, and we are goin HOG WILD!!!

On a baby note, the girls are now into full fledged crawling, distroyong the house, stealing toys from one another (how do you disapline a 9 1/2 month old???? HELP   they are driving me crazy with the acts of theft!) They are sleeping well (except for the 9 month growth spurt that hit us while we were back home at my parents place... how easily you forget how taxing it is to feed babies 24-7!) Also Maisie just decided that it was time the other day to pull herself up on her new car toy and push it while taking 5 STEPS!!! scaryyyyyy veryyyyy scaryyyyy.....

Well thanks for allowing me to pop in and out of here....
Judy where do you find the time to give all the advice to us? I barely get to read through most the stuff little own reply!

By the way THANKS TO EVERYONE for the cards, I have an entire stack by my computer, and when my pics come in I will be getting a new years (valentines/Thanksgiving) card out to you all!

Take care, WARM WISHES FROM THE THOMAS HOUSE THIS NEW YEARS!!

Jody, nice to see you.  Sorry about the flu but glad the rest of your holiday was good.  I totally know what you mean about not caring about things for me anymore it is totally about the kids!  Although...I have to say it can be harder with older kids (Brendan who is 7) because they get so caught up in the excess.  He also has a birthday in Dec...that coupled with the fact that he has two sets of parents, four sets of grandparents etc etc...he gets on this opening gift marathon and suddenly no longer pays any attention to what he is getting or who it came from, he is simply looking for the next thing to open.  It's hard to watch, but he does eventually settle in and play with all of his stuff.
Judy hope you are feeling better soon and that the babes/girls don't get it.  Strep is so painful.  Hugs to you. (From a safe cyber distance  )
Mickey and everyone...I am still laughing about the hoo hoo's...bw's who bw..That was funny Traci.  Although I just don't imagine it in my future for several reasons #1.  Don't need to do ANYTHING to encourage dh as you all know (hidden is actually a good thing)  #2 the pain...I don't know about you girls but I seem to have a LOT of hair down there...it could seriously take days (are estheticians licensed to give the gas?)  #3 the embarassment...I'm with naomi, don't particularly want someone to have to pay that close attention to my bits!
Thanks for the info/words on ADHD.  I completely agree with what you said.  And I also think (as Hayley?/Karen? mentioned) that the sleep/diet factor are huge.  As it is so often the case, even with adults who have health issues, we look past the obvious (diet/excersize/stress) and go straight the meds (obviously there are many cases where this is necessary...but hopefully YKWIM)
Congrats to Riley on the crawling and Cole on the tooth.
Hayley, I find that having finger food on the tray while I am spoon feeding helps alot...also, I too find that she sort of "warms up" to eating.  She might start out kind of slow not seeming like she wants much or any and then she'll end up eating the house :)
Our NYE was actually quite nice.  We went to a friend's house (the women who does day care for Sophie...which is nice because she has the pack n play all set up for her naps) put Sophie down there.  She went down really easily.  We hung out and chatted with friends.  We left at around 10:30...too tired...got home tried to make it until 12:00 but fell asleep at about 11:45.     Sophie woke a little at midnight (because of the fireworks etc) dh went to check on her and smelled that she had pooped. (I too was awake at this point from the noise.) She had pooped a ton yesterday and had a very red bum as a result so we felt we HAD to change her.  SO, we tag team changed her...poor little sweetie, her bum is absolutely raw today.   Any suggestions?  Haven't dealt with that yet.
Dh joked that we should write about the experience of changing her diaper...it was the first thing we did as a family in 2006 :)

Hi Everyone,

Well it has cooled down here a bit today (PHEW!) yesterday it actually got to 44oC !!  Apparently the hottest New Years Day for Sydney ever recorded!!  (111.4oF). (I am 1.5hrs north) Halle and I were hanging out in her wading pool again playing with her bath toys. Unfortunatley there were some terrible bush fires between here and Sydney and some poor people have lost their houses  :( .  I hope we don't get one here. Several times in the past we have had to evacuate the horses and part of my fences have burned down  :x because of bush fires near our house.

Hayley/Hannah - I totally agree that food additives and sleep can affect kids behaviour. I only have to look at my brothers kids to see that!   They used to let them stay up until they basically passed out on the floor. Now they have a set betime (bath and story) get much more sleep and are much better for it. And they are no longer allowed to just graze on junk food all day. The improvement is really noticable. He has two older step-kids who are taking medication for ADD and when his wife decided that maybe the younger two had it, my brother put his foot down, made the above changes. He has tried to get her to take the older two off the meds but she will not budge.(their Dad will not give them the meds when they are with him) She is such a hypochondriac (sp?) She is always at the Drs/physio/therapist. The other day she tried to tell me she is bi-polar or something  She probably watched a tv program on it and diagnosed herself with it   Sorry this has turned into a SIL rant

Yay for Riley crawling !! and Yay for Mais taking steps WOW.

I forget what else I wanted to say :? Probably a good thing for you girls as I tend to babble on sometimes..............

I come on while I'm breastfeeding :)  Works great... not much else I can do anyway.  AND if I am needed elsewhere in the house, well, I've got wheels on my chair :P

Karen, the remedy I used for Kaia's constipation was called H9 - there's a bunch of tissue salt remedies - H#'s.  Had to get it from the homeopath though - don't think my grocery store, which carries many remedies, has it.

I found this info online:  http://www.bbc.co.uk/health/healthy_living/complementary_medicine/remedies_tissue.shtml

H9 is a combination of some of these...

Throat is not as sore already, antibiotics are really working.  Hate that stuff though.  Pharmacist said it was the 'safest' for breastfeeding.... what does that mean?  The safest?  Ok, but IS it safe? Or just the least of all the evils???  Chris asked me if I was going to take it and all I could say was "it hurts a lot!"  so yes.
