bad latch on
« on: December 30, 2005, 18:28:57 pm »
I just had another thought to add to my previous posting, my daughter is not latching on very well and has quite a closed mouthm could this be contributing to her wind problems? It is not painful for me how we are nursing at the moment and she is getting plently of milk and is gaining weight. Any advice would be appreciated.

If she's not latching well, she could be taking in too much air, which could give her more gas and discomfort.

Here's some resources on latching:

And here's some on coping with a fast letdown:

Fast letdowns can be really common - the babies tend to gulp a lot.  Positioning can make a big difference.  Let me know if you have more questions - but fixing the latch early like this is really important!
