Anyone had this problem?
« on: December 30, 2005, 21:16:55 pm »
My lo goes to bed fine with a little ssh and currently being weaned from the dummy.  After half hour he wakes up so I go to him and do the dummy weaning again.  Sometimes though this can take me and dh over an hour on and off then he sleeps till dreamfeed and then sleeps through until about 7am.

This happens most nights and tonight he appears to be wide awake and has been crying when we are not in the room for just over an hour now.  When we go in he is fine as he appears to be awake and even drops his dummy which I don't replace until I go back upstairs to calm him.

He is screaming for me from the moment I close the door and I don't feel I should go right back to him as I know he is only crying for me to be there not for any other reason.

If anyone else has had this problem I would be grateful to hear if they have any suggestions. As I say when he is like this he manages to sleep through the night!

Have you considered separation anxiety?  My dd went through a bout of separation anxiety at that exact age.

During the day, does he have trouble when you are out of sight?  Does he have any problems when others hold or take care of him?

Could be teething too.  He may want the extra cuddling because of pain?  Is he teething?

HI

I don't think he is worried about me not being there as he was fine over Christmas being held and fed by all his Grandparents!

When I go out the room he has a little where are you going cry and I just tell him its ok I will be back in a minute and he seems ok especially if I give him a toy.

He has been chewing on everything for a good couple of months now so I am sure the teeth will soon show through but I don't think it is any worse than usual.

I am still confused!!  He finally went off to sleep by 9.20 last night.  I was about to withdraw the paci when he made a little cry, it dropped out and he was fast asleep!  He then didn't wake up till 4.30 this morning and I was quite pooped myself so I just brought him into bed with us and he slept until just before 8.

I should count my blessings, at least he is pretty good over night.
