We have been struggling with naps since DS#2 was born 8 weeks ago..

8am wake up
9am breakfast
12:30 lunch (usually offer a snack between but often isn't interested)
2pm nap (takes about one a week lately!)
snack offered after nap or 3pm (he stays in bed for 1 hour for a rest whether he sleeps or not)
5:30pm dinner
ON A NO NAP DAY:
6:30 bath
7:15 bed
ON A NAP DAY
7:15 bath
8:00 bed

Just curious, how structured are your toddlers routines through the day in terms of activities.  Do you just have free play time or have you built in some other things like consistent outdoor play time, craft time, etc. yet?  Sometimes I wonder if I need to start adding a little more structure in this way to my little guy's day...

We don't have a specific thing structured in at a specific time, but I do a craft, an indoor physical activity and some together play every day. We have a Mummy/Son date every Saturday morning, which we both look forward to.

DS is 21 months now and his routine has been the same for about 6 months, although I have moved his pm snack to about 4 or 4.30 as 5 was effecting his dinner.

OK here is rachels routine at 2.5 years old, I will start it at 7am waking but sometimes it's an 8am waking and then everything is delayed an hour but she is woken earlier from her nap so bedtime is the same.

7am wake
8am breakfast with cup of milk
10am snack
1130am lunch (main meal of the day)
1230pm nap (between 90mins and 2.5hrs)
300pm snack
5pm tea with drink of milk
630pm bath
7pm bed

we have had quite a structured activity schedule for the last year.  every morning we do something formal - either go to a music or art class or have preschool session or have an hour of something at home like art or music or dancing or reading or outside talking about nature.  in the afternoon we always have a 20min time of reading and numbers/letters after she wakes from her nap and then tend to be more free play seeing friends and having playdates or playing in the garden or something.  this works well for her because she's bright eyed and bushy tailed in the morning and less so in the afternoon so she can jusy do her own things.

Our day's activities are somewhat structured, not always the same but follows a predictable pattern. We are generally more active in the am. During the week we are up and out to the Y after getting ready in the am. Pm's are more low key we either clean, run errands, walk the dog, or visit. We always have one-on-one time and independent play time sometime before or after dinner. Once the weather gets nicer, things will change so we can enjoy our few good months.  8)

Here is our schedule at 13.5 months

5:30am wake, bf & potty
7am breakfast
8:15/8:30am nap 1-1.5 hrs.  wake, bf & potty
10am snack
12pm lunch
1:15/1:45pm nap 1-1.5 hrs.  wake, bf & potty
3pm snack
5pm dinner
6:15pm bath, books, bf
7pm bed

We are holding on to two naps for now.  I wish we could go to one but she just refuses to sleep past 5:30am.  She was late to transition from 3-2 so I suspect that 2-1 will be the same.

My DS is almost 23 months and here's his schedule - more or less

6:30 (on a good day, 5am on a bad one) - up, bright-eyed & bushy tailed; glass of Horlick's (warm milk drink)
7:30 breakfast with mom & dad
8-8:30 playing outside with one parent while other goes to hospital chapel (it's mandatory but children aren't welcome)
8:30-11ish friends come over to play - usually there's a snack (fruit) around 10 or so
11-12 mommy makes lunch, ds helps  or interferes...
12 lunch
12:30ish - 2:00 (3:00 on a good day) nap
after nap snack
friends over until 4
excursion to the market or playtime with mom until 5
daddy time until 6:30
6:30 dinner
7:15 brush teeth, potty, bedtime story
usually asleep at 7:30

10, 2 & 4 (usually, sometimes more often, sometimes less) get up - grab mom or dad & drag to room, climb back into (big-boy) bed and go right back to sleep. 4am is usually a potty time

Repeat... and watch mom & dad get increasingly sleep-deprived!

At almost 19 months our routine varies but this is a typical day if we don't have playgroup or visitors and dad is home at his normal time. The weather is pretty good so we are mostly outdoors:

7.30ish wake up, L will play in her cot for a while after she wakes
7.50 up and a drink of milk
8.15 breakfast then get dressed etc
9.00 play in the garden
10.00 a snack in the pushchair while I quickly walk the dog before L protests to walk  ::)
11.30 Indoors and play, watch a dvd and have a glass of milk
12.15 Into pushchair for her nap outside, usually asleep by 12.30
13.45 (1½ hours is about average for her nap but it varies day to day) Straight oout with lunch on the go for a power walk around the forest with the dog, once again trying to make it before she protests to get out!
14.30 play in the garden, go for a walk up and down the street to see the chickens etc
16.30 daddy is home,(yipee!)
17.00 teatime
17.30 cuddles with mum and milk
17.45 bath and stories with dad
18.30 bed  :)

I must admit our times really vary as I am not strict on wake up so she will sometimes have a mammoth night and a short nap etc but it works for us.

20 months

6/7 wake up, will stay in cot for a while (sometimes bottle sometimes not -phasing this out gradually)
between 8 & 9:30 breakfast (depending on if had bottle or not)
10ish small snack if had breakfast early
12 lunch
1-3ish nap
3:30 small snack of fruit
6ish dinner
8-8:30 bedtime (sleeps through usually unless teething)

We had problems with EW 5/6 every morning when had bedtime at 7/7:30 & nap at 12, and tried all sorts of different approaches to delay this, then decided to try and keep everything at an hr later when clocks changed forward for summer. Worked really well! We now also have more time with Daddy when he gets home from work and usually go for a walk around the lake to feed the ducks. We love our 7am wake ups!
