6 months and still 3 hour routine!
« on: January 02, 2006, 23:43:13 pm »
Hi all,
Im new to this forum, but am a true baby whisperer follower. I have an angel/text book baby who has slept through the night from around 10 weeks up to 13 hours a night. My problem is that as hard as i try he wont go onto a four hour routine. He is currently on 3 solid feeds a day but after an hour and a half he is showing all the tired sign and looking for sleep. He is also wanting to BF three hourly although this morning i managed to stretch to four hours. But with sleeps every 3 hours our routine is all over the place. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I'd love to see the full routine, too.
I know, at this age, Ryan started to show sleepy signs after an hour or so, but if I stretched him, he could make it longer.  This was such a confusing time for me, too.  Try to redirect ds to another activity when he shows those sleepy signs.  Even if you increase the A time by 5-10 minutes each day (or even slower than that) you'll eventually get up to where you need to be.
Also, make sure to wait awhile in between bf-ing and feeding.  I would bf at 7, then do breakfast at 8, which took at least 30 mins.      Then, he'd be ready for some playtime and before I knew it we were up to 2 hours of A time.
HTH!

Thanks for your replies our routine varies a little as some days he will wake for a 4am feed and then go back to sleep till 9am but most often he wakes around 7:30 so i will use that as an example. Today i managed to stretch his feeds 4 hourly but his sleeps were still out of wack.

I would definitely try to add more A time after you feed him solids.  Even if it's just an extra 15 minutes, it'll help to stretch it closer to a 4 hour routine.
Good luck!   :D
