Side effects of DHA/ARA?

DD is almost 11 months old. We have always used a formula without the added lipids - DHA/ARA. Well, a friend of mine gave me a few cans of the same formula with the added lipids. I thought since Leah was almost 11 months old, it wouldn't hurt to use it. WELL, I gave it a try yesterday and last night she was extremely hyper. Would not settle down to sleep till 9:00 pm and this is a child who is ALWAYS in bed by 7. She was up seriously 20 times last night jumping up and down in her crib. Today the naps were horrid. 20 minutes for the morning, 45 mintues for the afternoon. I am going to go back to our previous formula, but I am just wondering if anyone knows if this is a side effect or if coincidentaly something else is going on too.

Uh-oh, I've been giving my 4yo DHA for two days.  Should I watch out?   

Seriously, I've never heard of side effects from it, nothing but good things actually.  I wonder why it affected her that way.   :?:

Sorry no experience here either but I'm assuming you didn't feed her anything else new or give her any new meds?

Thanks everyone for attempting to reply!  I don't post questions much, but I guess when I do I stump everyone!  :wink: Well, last night I went back to her normal formula for her bedtime bottle. The first half of the night was horrid again. She was up and crying, arching her back (gas?). I tried every AP technique out there - rocking, co-sleeping etc.  :wink: Nothing would work. I ended up sitting with her in the rocking chair till midnight. Then from then on she slept fine. Then today she is normal again.  :? So it had to be the formula. My guess is by midnight it was out of her system (last bottle of it was at 1 pm). Maybe it was a bad can. No clue. Really weird though! Thanks everyone for your thoughtful insights. I guess I will just give the cans my friend gave me to the food pantry or something and fork out the dough for more of our normal formula (should only need to buy another can or 2 before she's one! ) Thanks!
