We started Colin on solids two weeks ago, and he's so thrilled with it that he hardly wants a bottle anymore. He eats large amounts of rice cereal - what I think of as a large amount anyway. We prep the solids in a pyrex glass custard dish, and this morning he ate a full dish! I'm excited that he's so eager, but I'm concerned that he's been far less excited about his bottle feedings. I know that he's supposed to get his nutrituion from formula (I'm not able to BF) rather than the solids until he's about 12 months.
He's had almost exclusively rice cereal so far - he tried carrots just yesterday and seemed to like them ok, and he's had a bit of applesauce in the evening the last two days as well and he LOVES that.
Basically I'm not sure if I should be ecstatic with this or do we need to limit the solids more and deal with the screaming? Literally, he screams when what we've prepped for him runs out. He leans forward and grabs the spoon, opens his mouth great and hardly makes a mess. Truly, this kid loves the solids! Is it ok that he consumes this much so soon, or is this bad?
