What is he doing?

I hope this isnt a dumb question, but my son has been trying to sit up during diaper changes, in his swing (actually leans forward), and when I am feeding him. Does anyone know what is he is trying accomplish?

Not a dumb question at all. My DD is doing the same while in her carseat and especially in her bouncer - leans forward, pushes her head forward and looks like she is trying to sit up or even get out!!! I just guessed this was a normal stage of development.
Hopefully someone else knows what is going on!!!

I'm guessing it's your ds figuring out how his muscles work in preparation for all those cool milestones to come.  :D  All sounds good.

My DD does this all the while especially when I am feeding her solids in the bouncy chair.  I don't whether she is fighting to get more food in her mouth, or look at the picture on her bib.  :D

My 5.5mth old has been doing this for sometime before she could sit on her own. Even in the pram at the most erect height. she can now sit unaided and it hasnt changed.  it seems they do it to try to explore the environment as lying on the back is no longer as stimulating. you may find, as i did, that bf becomes more challenging because they continue pulling forward to sit up and look around touching things.

i believe a very normal stage of development. enjoy it before you know it they will be crawling.

I think you right about him not finding laying down stimulating enough. He doesnt really like playing on the floor anymore with the exception of his obsession with rolling over. He gets mad because he isnt able to do it by himself yet, and when I help me he gets tired and falls over. Then right back to trying it again :? Anyway, I have been trying to find some sort of chair or play something so he can sit up in. However, i am not sure that his neck is fully ready for it yet. These dev. milestones are fascinating arent they? We are so blessed! :D
