refusing to nap

the last three days andrew (who is almost 7 months) has cut back on his naps drastically.

before he would wake up, eat, play, and then fall asleep about 2-3 hours later.  it was nice and routine and i loved it.

but the last three days we've had....

wake up
only each about 4 oz (compared to the 8 oz he was eating before)
play
eat some more (about another 2 oz)
play
look tired (rub eyes, start being cranky
we put him down with our routine (he has lots of props a soother and a bunny rabbit and a blanket)
he'll lay and play and coo and talk and gibber
then quiet (i think he's asleep)
but he's not sleeping and then the noise gets louder and louder.

this morning he did this for 45 minutes before he started to freak out.  before that he's not screaming, he's just talking and cooing.

today he woke up at 9:30 AM and didn't go down for a nap until 1:30.  he slept for an hour and then fell asleep again at 5:30 with another hour nap.  now it's 9:30 and he's still going strong.

this is getting long.  sorry.

do they just start napping less at this age?  he doesn't seem to affected by less sleep?  is quiet time by himself okay? (i mean, i know it's not as good as sleep, but is it okay)

any advice?  mommy's used to her routine and this is too much change for her.

Please post your routine with times as such:

Wake___
Eat___
Activity___
Sleep___
and so on for the rest of the day

This will help me get a better sense of what is going on.

Yes, he is in line with 2 hours of napping (typical amount of day sleep at this age is 2.5 hours to be exact, but how does he seem to do with just 2 hours?)
How many hours of sleep is he getting at night?

Keep in mind as well, from ages 7-9 months the routine does get kind of topsy turvy.  I actually just re-read the EASY chapter in the BWSAYP last night because I too was feeling a little frustrated that Taylor's days were changing a lot from day to day.  Tracy says that this is totally normal at this age.  Just try to remain as consistent as possible, and you try to stick to the routine as best as you can.

Please post routine and we'll go from there.
thanks!
