Good Night Moon, don't know the author.

It's literally the only book he'll let us read to him right now, and he always "reads" it back to us!

the very first words...  "out of the gate..."  will stop tears, a wriggly bum on the changing table, a grumpy clothing change, and bring a smile of recognition as he waits for the rest.
