How to get milk into the child?
« on: January 09, 2006, 19:16:25 pm »
Hi all,
I have a problem getting my 15 mo dd to drink more than a few sips from her sippy cup.
I've tried miscellaneous different kinds of cups, served the milk warm and cold and don't know what else to try.  I would like to keep from adding anything to flavor as I would like to be able to serve her milk plain and without extra sugar, etc.
Any advice would certainly be appreciated.
Thanks,
Elizabeth

My 2.5 yo hasn't drunk milk from a cup in months.  He just won't drink it.
I have even tried making milkshakes with no joy.
He eats a small amount of cheese, and loves yogurts, so he ends up eating several of those a day.
Although, at a friend's house a couple of days ago, she asked her daughter if she wanted 'cow juice', DS was in there like a shot!
He looked at it a bit funny once he got it, but drank it.  However, he hasn't touched it since, cow juice or not!

(Well, maybe another girl if I can convince DH!)

I have tried calling it moo juice and making mooing sounds
She giggles but still wants to toss the cup onto the floor.
The thing about this is that she is small and the endocrinologist wants to make sure she is getting the most nutrition possible and milk is "the" food for that.  Soooo.....the plan is to feed her 4-6 oz of milk 5x/day before meals for a few weeks and see how that affects her growth.  Great!  Sounds good until....dd tosses the sippy after about 20 seconds of sipping
Am at a loss!
