Earlier bedtime.....what would you do?
« on: January 09, 2006, 19:41:22 pm »
Before our latest sleep issues, Carmela was sleeping from 7:30 (falling asleep about 8) to about 7:00 each morning for a few weeks and napping about 1.5 hours, somedays not at all.  Then she went to waking all night long.

Last night she went into bed at 7:00 and fell asleep at 7:30, I didn't hear her again until 6:30 (doesn't mean she wasn't up, I just didn't hear her because I decided to get some sleep for a change!)......and today she napped 1.5 hours but woke up and was NOT ready to wake up.

it seems she's back on track, yet she is still so cranky!  Like I said, she could still be waking and I'm just not hearing her or she's just still tired from the lack of sleep for awhile.

I was thinking of putting her in at 6:30 p.m. tonight, but I'm so afraid she'll wake earlier.  Should I try it?  Or just keep 7:00 and hope she catches up with her naps??????

Thanks

If you've only just started, then leave it at least 2 weeks before you start to make any changes.
If you do want to change the times then after a couple of weeks, just put her to bed 10 minutes earlier every 3/4 days.

7 is her regular time no?  If you are nervous about earlier then for tonight keep the same time.  But if she wakes up tonight, I wouldn't wait 2 weeks, I would put her down 1/2 hour earlier the next night since this has been going on for quite a while for you. Just my thoughts.

I'd stick with 7 as well, and see what happens. More than anything you want her to sleep through the night!!!

I would do exactly whatever you did last night that worked.  Then if it doesn't work, change it some more.  But if it worked, go with it.  She's definitely going to still be cranky.  One night sleep and one nap does not catch up a toddler.  When my dd gets off schedule for even a couple days for holidays, it takes a good week to get her back on track.  From what I've read of your posts, she's been off track for awhile so it's going to take her awhile to get back on track.  Good luck!

Thanks girls.

7:30 was her bedtime and what I like her to be at since I tend to get later wake ups (or did previously).  I switched her to 7 once these issues popped up again so I guess you girls are right. I'll keep her at 7 for awhile until she can adjust her wake up and nap and then push her back every 15 minutes until we hit 7:30

Thanks so much :)
