Why does it take so long for sleep?

At night time it takes about on average 30 minutes but sometimes longer (like an hour once in awhile!)  Why?  Is that a sign that I'm putting her in too early or too late????

could be a sign of too early, but i would stick with the consistent bedtime - occassionally it will mean chatter etc in bed but i think that is normal and as long as it is not for hours i owudl not worry -

It may also mean that she needs a bit more activity & then wind down before bed... with ds, we always run around (outside or inside) for 20-30mins before bath to tire him then he has a bath (relax) & about 20mins of stories, seems to work really well as he is asleep in 5-10mins most nights.

I think Carmela (being similar to Karina) needs lots of soothing time to get to a calmer sleep state. So if she doesn't get lots of calming, she'll talk for awhile (I think Karina was doing it for over an hour last night at bedtime, which is very odd for her at night!) Maybe you can try being with her in her dark bedroom for longer before putting her down. Might calm into a sleepier state.
