starting easy routine should i dream feed?
« on: January 11, 2006, 07:57:33 am »
My little girl is nearly five months old. I have started weaning but she is just on her second week of just tastes. We started the easy routine but have not done the dream feed. Is it too late to start it now?
She seems to have her long bit of sleep at the start of the night and when she wakes up which is anything from midnight to 3 am she then wakes up every three hours!

She is also teathing bit, red cheeks and lots of dribble so this way be affecting her,
Basically i am scared that if i dream feed her she would wake up and go three hourly from that point!!
Any advice would be helpful thanks :)

Hello!  :D

I, personally, wouldn't start a dreamfeed now.  Tracy recommends having it cut out at 7 months so it would be something you would start and then have to work on eliminating right away.  I would probably work on figuring out the night wakings.  Does your dd wake out of hunger or do you think it may be habit?  Is she able to put herself asleep by herself?  Also, when she wakes do you go in right away or give her some time to resettle?  You may want to check out the sleep forums too, lots of ideas there (there's one specifically for night wakings too) :D

I wouldn't introduce it, I doubt she would take it anyway I know DD wouldn't once she knew that nightime was for sleeping.

good luck

Thanks for the advice. Your right that its a bit late to start it. I will just have to continue with weaning and see what happens :)
