Putting baby down at night
« on: January 11, 2006, 19:48:40 pm »
I've been doing the EASY routine for the past 3 days and so far tonight she has been laying in her cot from 7.15 and is still awake now at 7.45.  She's not crying so I can't do the PU/PD technique.  I'm not 100% sure I'm doing it right or not.  I put her in her cot, tell her it's nighttime and leave the room.  I only go into her when she starts crying (because she's pulled her dummy out!).  As soon as I walk in the room she stops crying so I don't PU/PD.  I put her dummy in her mouth and leave the room again.  Am I supposed to be staying in the room with her until she goes to sleep, just watching or should I be touching her, stroking her face, what??  If I stay in with her and stroke her face then this seems to wake her more, if I touch her belly she grabs my hand and starts waving it around wildly.  She is 6 months old.

hi,

if she's not crying, i would go ahead & leave her.  if she starts to cry, go in and soothe her (however necessary) and when she stops leave again.  HTH  :D
