DS knows a few signs, e.g. eat, milk, all-gone ...
but he only does it when we ask him to. he still cries if he is desperate.
what can we do to encourage him to sign if he needs something?

i woudl think it woudl be the same as encouraging speech development - if you know what it is he is trying to get - when you do give it to him say so0mething like "oh you want some milk" and sign at the same time, milkk , sign milk....
just a thought
