Crazy Sleeping
« on: January 11, 2006, 20:27:00 pm »
Hi

My dd#1 will be 3 in February and has always been a pretty good sleeper.  She is in a twin bed with rails  and has been since before her second birthday with no issues.  In the last week or so, she is insisting on sleeping in the bed sideways and with her head under the covers.  We have a camera in both of our girls rooms, so we can see that she is tossing and turning all night, ends up upside down in bed, then back to sideways.   She wakes up quiet a bit to, she doesn't call for us but I do know that she is sleeping very restlessly, and is therefore more tired during the day.
Anybody else have something similar happening.  Do I need to try to figure out what is causing this and trying to stop it, or is this a normal toddler thing that she will outgrow?

Thanks

Sorry to sound a bit thick, but what's a twin bed?Is it a transition from cot (crib) to big bed?
Sorry.
Also is she getting more tired and grumpy during the day?
If not, then I'd leave her to it.If you didn't have the camera you'd be none the wiser.
I can say that my dd#1 is such afidget, when I go in before I go to bed, she's normally laying across the pillow,I just put her back into bed and she's stays asleep.(But she is 4)

Sarah, a twin bed is just a single bed.

MIa and Lily's mom--
Joseph had a lot of stuff come up at about the same age. He had night terrors and was getting up WAY too early and wasn't sleeping nearly enough. Our ped gave us a chart to keep track of his sleep and we ended up putting him to bed earlier. He had also stopped taking  a nap.

He is also all over the place in his bed--sideways, upside down, head under pillow, etc etc. I wouldn't worry about that!
I would say that if she has a particularly restless night with lots of wakings, that I'd try to get her down early for bed the next night.
Good luck!

Sorry, a twin bed is just an adult sized bed, no idea where that name comes from because there is definitely not enough room for twins :-).  Anyway, she is not really noticeable grumpier during the day but definitely grumpier first thing in the morning (sort of like waking up with a hang over :-)).  I am not really sure how to stop it anyway, so I probably will just keep and eye on her to make sure she doesn't catapult herself out of bed one of these days.
