Away from DS Overnight - B/Feeding?
« on: January 12, 2006, 04:29:55 am »
Hi  :?

My 8 1/2 mth old ds is on 4 milk feeds, 3 breast, 1 formula. I am going away on a girls weekend, dayspa, lunching etc  :D (lucky me) and am concerned about the missed breast feeds.

I will miss 3 in total over a 24hr period. Will this affect my milk if I don't express? I never feel engorged so that is not my concern rather that the supply will be affected.

What do you think, any advice?

Thanks

Cas :)

I was surprised at how engorged I was after missing a feed when ds was 12 months old. We were at my high school reunion dinner, and I had to leave early to pump!

I'd suggest taking the pump, and plan on pumping once and then you have it if you want to pump more. Since this is a one time thing, your supply should be ok.

Have fun and enjoy your break!

Hi Stacy

Won't hurt to have the pump, I had thought it best to pack it just in case. Thank you for the reassurance.

I am looking forward to the little break, all my girlfriends have kids, 1 other is breastfeeding, 1 is pregnant so they will all understand.

Wow child free weekend, we will all be phoning home quite frequently I'm sure.

Thanks.
