is there growth spurt at 1 year old?
« on: January 15, 2006, 07:27:53 am »
DS will be one in 10 days.

the past few days, he has been very hungry. i already added one oz of milk per bottle, that's make it 8 oz (7 oz of powder). he down the 3 bottle in minutes. and eat 3 big meals without fuss.

but then he still wakes in the night down another bottle of 7-8oz.

is there growth spurt at 1 year old? do i add may be one more bottle during the day or add more solid? or wait till it pass?

Yep there is one around 12 months.

I'd offer more solids... offer 3 meals & 2 snacks if you haven't already... I found at about 1yo ds #1 started eating more meat to fill himself up

Growth spurts are roughly 3monthly, but in toddler age they kind of vary, I just notice that he wants more food & offer it.

My ds#1 is 2.5, but he eats roughly what he did at one still.

Morning tea I give crumpets or raisin toast or fruit or crackers & cheese & a cup of milk (used to be a bottle then sippy, now open cup)

for afternoon tea he gets fruit we share 2 peices (more with dh on weekends) & crackers & occasionally he gets some cake or sweet biscuits & often has a milkshake or smoothy too

milkshake and smoothy is a really good idea ! i haven't thought about this. i am training him to use open cup, (now using a close lid with 2 holes on) think it will be easier to drink smoothy in it :)

thanks so much for the tips.
