Too many dirty nappies
« on: January 15, 2006, 10:06:43 am »
I have a question, is it a food allergy?

My DD is currently doing about 5/6 dirty nappies on average in a day.  This coincided with her teething and solids.  She used to be one a day.  I don't know what to think now, because it has been going on for about 6 weeks now.

She is currently teething (I think) because she is constantly biting down on things which enters her mouth (spoon, toys, clothes etc.)  She has two teeth already.

She has no breathing difficulties and she always is a happy and contented little girl, (with a little bit of a sore bottom).

Am I being paranoid, as both me and my partner have allergies (asthma, eczema, hayfever), or are these dirty nappies down to her teething.

Did her last teeth come in before solids started?  What consistancy is the poo?  Does it seem worse or better with certain foods?

Her teeth came round a day or two before I started her on solids.  Her poo is very soft, but not runny. It is the same whatever food I give her, only the colour changes, sometimes it is yellow (most time) sometimes it is brick colour (when I give something that is orange, like carrots).

Maybe just all the excitement with solids and teething?  Might be her body still adjusting.  Any other symptoms or changes you have seen?

I don't know if it is allergy related, but DD went from 1 dirty nappy a day to 6-7 for few weeks last mount just before she got her teeth. Now she is back to normal... have no clue what caused it, lots of people said at the time it is teeth related.

dd started pooping more when I started her on solids. :? I think it's just an adjustment period.

Just keep your eyes peeled for mucous or blood. Call your ped. if you notice either.

DS poops 6-7 times a day as well.  He was always a frequent pooper before solids as well, but he had gotten down to just 1 a day just prior.  Has been frequent again since!  Just his system I guess!
