Does starting solids mean night wakings?
« on: January 17, 2006, 09:13:01 am »
Since starting solids proper a couple of weeks ago, L&S have taken to waking at night for feeds.
They haven't dropped any bottles since starting - in fact they have increased slightly - they now consistantly take 7oz every 3 hours.
They have solids once a day, usually around mid-afternoon and so far haven't been interested in taking another meal.
Last night they fed at 7pm and L woke at 9.30 and took another 7oz, S woke at 11.30pm and also took 7oz.
Then they both woke at 5.30 this morning, they were quite happy laying in bed, so I left them.  Sam went back to sleep but Lydia wanted feeding at 7am.  She again took 7oz.  I woke Sam at 7.20 and he took 7oz too.

Yesterday they fed at 8, 12.50, solids at 2.45, 3.30, 7, Lydia 9.30 and Sam 11.30pm.
Each bottle was 7oz with the exception of the ones after the solids, when it was 5 and 4.

Can anyone see whether I'm doing anything wrong here, or is it just that dreaded 6 month spurt?

Wendy,
definitely not an expert but would you consider adding a snack to their daily routine? maybe early/late afternoon? something like pureed fruit or baby dessert? they may be getting used to solids and liking the idea    I know how they feel

sounds more like a growth spurt.... any chance they were up & gassy?  sometimes the digestive system needs some time to get used to solids, and until it does they have lots of gas.  in that case it may help to feed them earlier in the day...

that's all i've got!  :?
