1 step forward - 2 steps back
« on: January 17, 2006, 18:29:25 pm »
Cooper has been sleeping through the night since day one.  Last week we conquered (still some flare ups) the 45 minute nap monster.  Please see link below from Nap forum.

http://www.babywhisperer.com/forum/how-does-one-whisper-through-clenched-teeth-long-winded-vt49927.html

And now...with this new schedule - he is waking at 3:30, where he used sleep through til @ least 5:30-6am.

He has increased his feedings from 4 oz to 6oz and adjusted his schedule to 3.5 hr...and is generally down for the night now by 7pm, and a DF @ 11pm.
Any insight as to why the sudden 3:30 am wakings??

it may be the longer naps that are the calprit. He's getting more sleep during the day, and for some babies, this causes them to wake at night.
My LO is like that. For exaple, she has a 30-45 minute nap in the morning, a 2 hour nap around noon, and another 30-45 minute nap in the afternoon (usually an hour before bedtime) For her this works. If she sleeps longer during the days she's up all night, with this routine she sleeps 7pm-7am.
Keep perservering and you will get there. It takes time and he may need to change his internal clock.
Your doing all the right things. Keep it up :)

hmmm..I grew up in Sudbury...this is turning into a much smaller world than first anticipated...

Born in North Bay, lived in Calandar - moved to Copper Cliff...spent summers in Powassan..  Still return to Powassan every summer...  Mom now living in North Bay again.. 8)

Great news - Cooper once again slept through the night last night - taking your advice after a fairly lengthy nap yesterday afternoon (30 minute nap in the morning...he was some grouchy)...I kept him up, let him take a 45 catnap and put him to bed @ 8pm...DF @ 12 (I was up watching American Idol) he slept thru to 5:30 this a.m.

Here's to another day - more tweaking methinks..

Thanks again...

I grew up in Powassan. Beautiful town isn't it :)

great news for the sleeping. Keep up the good work :)

The only thing I would suggest is that if you can move his bedtime to 7-7:30 and dream feed to 11-11:30 :)
I think you'll find he's less ovetired and may sleep better for you :)

Do you know the Closs family?  Or the Munros?

Gawd - too many years in that darn labour day parade...and they would never let me drive the shriners go carts!

Yes indeed it is quite a lovely little town..very near and dear to my heart..
