You can make a simple tomato sauce with fried onion then a can of tomatoes or better still passata as its smoother and no pips.

You can make pesto by pounding olive oil and basil and some parmesan cheese.

You can add grilled aubergines to the tomato sauce and then whizz up.

There's always cheese sauce too and you can add chopped veg to that.

I always used pepper to season but not salt at that age.

Hiya

I have a brilliant baby/toddler food book that was my bible when I was introducing new foods to DD.  One of her/our favs was mediterranean pasta (suitable from 6 months).

You need ...

30g (1 oz) mini pasta shapes
125ml (4 fl oz) water
30ml (2 tbsp) tinned chopped tomatoes
1/2 onion, finely chopped
1 courgette, trimmed and sliced
1/2 red pepper, chopped
pinch, dried basil.

Place the pasta, water, vegetables and basil in a saucepan.  Bring to the boil, reduce the heat, part cover the pan and simmer for 10 minutes or until the pasta and vegetables are soft.

Mash with a fork or puree until fairly smooth.

Serve lukewarm.

That makes roughly 6 portions.

Can be stored for 24 hours in a fridge, or 4 weeks in the freezer.

Good sources of vitamin c, complex carbohydrates and potassium.

Its really quick and easy and DD loved it - so did I!  Tastes good!

I usually just buy a jar of organic red sauce but she also loves a little butter and parmesan cheese on her pasta:)

Another good pasta sauce is basically tomato sauce (either home-made or ready to serve) and add a 1/4 of a teaspoon of pesto sauce to it. Gives a change to the ordinary tomato sauce.
Another one is with ricotta cheese (I personally prefer cow's ricotta as opposed to goat's - it is much creamier). put 2 heaped teaspoons of ricotta in babies dish/bowl. when pasta is cooked, lightly drain (not too much otherwise will be too dry) and add to bowl. Add a drop of Ex. Virgin Olive Oil and stir. Add parmesan and serve.
Another really good and quick recipe for around 1yrs is to cook the pasta in milk (not water) until nice and soft. Add parmesan and serve.

While out shopping at the weekend I gave my LO, who is 9mths, a jar of spaghetti with tomato sauce for the first time and he loved it! I was wondering how I could make something similar at home....and now I know! Thanx a million

My lo is 9months and I just introduced her to pasta. Here is the recipe I used, she loved it.

1-2 tbs butter in sauce pan
add 1 cup of diced canned tomatoes, saute until most of the liquid is gone
add 1 cup of diced cooked carrots and puree
add 1/3 cup of cheddar cheese
add this sauce to about 4-5 tbs of small cooked pasta

This makes about 4 servings, so I just freeze the rest for later
