Trouble adding pictures

Hi!  I am trying to post a picture. Was able to do it earlier today, but it cut the pictures in half for some reason.     https://babywhispererforums.com/index.php/topic,50662.240.html about halfway down if that's of any consequence.

Anyway, when I tried later today I got this message:

The attachments upload directory is not writable. Your attachment or avatar cannot be saved.

It's a jpg file, which is what all of mine are. 
Any suggestions?

I was trying to post a picture on a thread and it kept giving me the same error message that Kate mentioned above.  I tried 3 or 4 different times.  Is there a trick to getting it to upload a picture?  I made sure the picture was less than 500 kb.

I have had the same trouble as Kate. Even worse, my avatar has now gone Same error message)

Karen, I can see your cutie avatar.  Not sure why you can't. Very bizarre.

I tried photobucket.com and was able to do it that way.  Follow their directions if this doesn't make sense.  You download a picture and then past the IMG code directly into your message, NOT as a attachment.  That'll work until they get all these glitches figured out.  THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL YOUR HARD WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ye me too, my pic vanished and when i tried to load a new one I got the

"The attachments upload directory is not writable. Your attachment or avatar cannot be saved"

message as well......hmmmmm!
