At 9 mo, switching from bf first, to solids first?
« on: January 27, 2006, 17:07:55 pm »
DD is almost 9 months old...and I am planning on offering solids before breast milk. Any of you with experience with this? Did your lo eat more solids (mine is an average eater)?

Did you pump more, or did you just adjust to diminished breast milk, etc.

Also any other insites you have would be great :)

TIA

I just kinda kept going like we were going and used the bfs as snacks. Max fed first thing, usually after both naps, and then before bed. When he started refusing the feeds, I just upped his solids at meal times and offered him snacks when awaking from naps. HTH

Hi Beata!

Jacob and I started this about 3weeks ago, yes he has fed less, a result of which is that I have decided to feed him off the left boob only as I have struggled to keep up my supply with both breasts (I have never been very abundant in milk) DS didn't seem interested in nursing after his solids and water so I now nurse him in the morning , afternoon and evening, he some nights has milk if he wakes or extra in the day if he is thirsty. I now count these feeds as a drink rather than part of a meal/food. DS now eats so much solid I cant believe he has room for it all! Any more questions please ask, HTH
