Spit Up
« on: January 27, 2006, 18:46:38 pm »
My ds has been treated for reflux almost since birth and things finally seems to be straightening out a bit, but he is still spitting up a lot. Well, I think it's a lot but I have nothing to compare it to really. He's my one and only! So my question is, how much does your lo spit up - quantity, frequency? Lovely topic I know, but I'm trying to decide whether to push for a different med or not.

Well I have a refluxer and up until about 4 months, she'd vomit (spit ups not included) 50+ times a day. By about 6 months it was still at least every hour... but the difference was she became a "happy chucker" It no longer bothered her. She lived in sleepers and bibs until she was about 9 months old!  ::) lol. Now it's down to once a day, once every few days. More if she's teething. I think if he's not in pain anymore you're okay. If he's still in pain I would push for new meds.

I hope that helps a bit...

I also have a "happy spitter". She spits up at almost every bottle. Sometimes a little and sometimes it seems like the entire bottle. She is in no pain and gains well, so we try not to worry about it. My cousin's baby is on meds for reflux and he still spit ups. But is no longer in pain. So, she decided not to push for more meds.

it may be worth you checking out the colic , reflux and crying forum . ryan has suffered reflux from birth also but he has silent reflux , but there are babies that can bring up almost everything !  :o ryan didn't really spit up it just came up to his mouth and he would swallow again. he has only had projectile vomiting on a few occasions. what he did a lot whilst burping was choke and bring it up through his nose. he always gained weight . depending on what meds you are using , a lot are weight related , they have to be upped as baby gains weight. you will probably get more information on the other forum.
