Making Applesauce

I got some fresh apples to make homeade baby apllesauce with and I am not sure which way to cook them is better? Bake? Steam? Boil, Something else?  ??? ??? ???

The only way I have done is to peel and cut them in chunks and blend them in a blender til mushed - I didn't cook at all. I did use the Vita-Mix blender which is very high powered.
I guess if I was going to cook them I would steam them and then mush them

I would microwave them with a bit of water to make them softer. then blend.

I cook them in a little water until they are soft & then blend... or now Liam doesn't like purees I just mash a bit

I always steam them.  The best part is that you can use the leftover water (where all the nutrients are anyway) as juice for your lo.  Carter loves it!  You would think it would be pretty diluted because there isn't any apples actually in the water but it is pretty strong.  I actually dilute it more before I give it to him.  My DH likes to drink it too while it is still warm.  I also do that with pears and mangos.  :)

Thanks everyone! I steamed them and i have to say I think it is pretty good. I used to water to make some apple tea and that was good for my sore throat! Thanks for the help.  ;)
